In early 2024 the City of Jamestown reached out with a challenge many communities face: three key city organizations (Jamestown Tourism, the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce and the City of Jamestown) each operated with their own logo. The result was a fragmented brand presence, mixed public perception and no clear story tying the community together.

 

Their tourism brand, untouched since 2014, no longer met modern marketing needs. On top of that, Jamestown was often seen as a place people pass through rather than a destination to explore. The community needed a refreshed identity that could shift perception, support digital communications and bring clarity to how its organizations relate to one another.

Challenge, Strategy & Execution

The goal was ambitious but clear: unify three entities without diminishing their individual missions. Jamestown needed a shared visual system that built local pride, drove tourism and economic development and eliminated confusion between organizations.

 

We anchored the new brand in the community’s most iconic symbol: the buffalo. Our design team created a bold, modern interpretation that honors Jamestown’s heritage while signaling a forward-looking community. Streamlined shapes and clean lines give the buffalo a strong digital presence, while high contrast allows the mark to shine everywhere from business cards to billboards to social media.

 

Flexibility was key. The buffalo can pair with a wordmark or stand confidently on its own. Each organization can use the same core elements while maintaining its own identity through tailored variations. This is a system built not just for today’s platforms but for future growth and storytelling.

Results

The refreshed Jamestown brand delivers a unified visual language that reflects the community’s history and energy. It sets the stage for stronger tourism marketing, clearer communication between organizations and a more compelling sense of place. Most importantly, it helps people see Jamestown as a destination worth discovering instead of just a stop along the way.

The new buffalo-centered brand creates clarity, builds pride and invites visitors to experience all Jamestown has to offer.
