Every fall through spring, the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra fills the Belle Mehus Auditorium with music and excitement. For the 2025-26 season, the BMSO team needed a creative direction that could pull together the season’s theme, “Pathways and Escapades,” and give audiences a peek at the magic behind each performance.
Challenge, Strategy & Execution
BMSO had the season set. Our job was to help people feel it.
The challenge was finding a visual approach that fit the theme, kept the season connected and still allowed each concert to have its own personality. We dug into the idea of “Pathways and Escapades,” exploring how movement, discovery and a little sense of adventure could shape the overall design.
Once the creative direction clicked, we built out the full season’s creative assets: a booklet that introduced the theme, a rack card for quick highlights, posters that captured the tone of each concert and TV and radio spots that tied everything together with energy and style. Every piece works together to guide the audience from one concert to the next.
Results
The new creative direction gave BMSO a season that not only looks cohesive but feels inviting. Each concert stands out, the theme comes through clearly and the orchestra has a stronger visual presence across every channel.
