We’re looking for an Account Director to serve as the senior strategic lead across assigned client accounts, ensuring excellence in client relationships, account performance and internal team leadership. In this role, you’ll provide high-level oversight of strategy, operations and delivery while acting as a key liaison between clients, account teams and agency leadership.
The ideal candidate is a confident strategic thinker, exceptional communicator and experienced team leader who anticipates client needs, manages risk and keeps complex accounts moving forward. You’ll guide strategy, strengthen client partnerships, mentor account staff and ensure the agency consistently delivers on its commitments. Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Strategic Oversight
- Own the overall health and strategic direction of assigned client accounts.
- Serve as a senior client partner, guiding long-term strategy and ensuring alignment with client business objectives.
- Lead high-level client communications, presentations and strategic planning discussions.
- Identify opportunities for organic growth, scope expansion and value-added services.
- Ensure client expectations are clearly set, managed and met across all deliverables.
Account & Operational Management
- Oversee all account activity, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on scope and on budget.
- Maintain visibility into account performance, resourcing and timelines.
- Identify risks, challenges or changes in scope early and proactively address them.
- Report client issues, changes, risks, missed deadlines or performance concerns to agency leadership in a timely and transparent manner.
- Partner with leadership to develop solutions when accounts are off track.
Team Leadership & Management
- Directly manage and mentor all account staff assigned to client accounts.
- Set clear expectations, workflows and standards of excellence for account teams.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback and performance management.
- Support professional development and career growth for account team members.
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with creative, strategy, media and production teams.
Internal Communication & Leadership Alignment
- Act as the primary escalation point for account-related issues.
- Ensure leadership has clear visibility into account status, risks, wins and challenges.
- Contribute to agency-wide process improvements and best practices.
- Model accountability, professionalism and agency values.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience managing teams within an advertising, marketing or creative agency environment.
- Proven experience leading multiple accounts and complex client relationships.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor and develop high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, both client-facing and internal.
- Experience managing scope, timelines, budgets and risk.
