Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced media director with a strong track record of developing and executing strategic traditional media plans backed by big ideas, trends and data.  The right candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong desire to tackle client goals and challenges.  We are looking for a pro at negotiating with vendors, executing plans, reconciling invoices and reporting on campaign performance. This position can be remote, however, we are headquartered in Bismarck, ND. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze research to provide strategic, insights-driven traditional media recommendations 
  • Develop innovative media strategies with a complete understanding of traditional media and consumption behaviors 
  • Formulate, write and present media recommendations as part of the brand strategy to both clients and internal teams 
  • Compile and analyze relevant metrics on an ongoing basis to optimize schedules, analyze media alternatives and make recommendations 
  • Optimize plans and budgets according to the best media mix and provide ongoing actionable insights into campaign performance to stakeholders 
  • Stay informed of industry trends, emerging media platforms and audience behavior  
  • Negotiate best possible rates with media partners 
  • Monitor buys in progress, arrange for make-goods and credits, and be responsible for the post-buy results of all buys 
  • Lead strategy and placement of broadcast television, cable, radio, out-of-home and print media nationwide and in Canada 
  • Identify large-scale sponsorship and experiential marketing opportunities nationwide  
  • Continually be on the lookout for new traditional opportunities  
  • Manage traditional media team by providing leadership, mentorship and guidance  
  • Engage and collaborate with clients, vendor sales teams, account executives and other agency departments 
  • Work closely with accounting to ensure paid media billings are reflected on client invoices 
  • Assist with business development needs such as creating strategies and tactics and articulating them in requests for proposals (RFP) on behalf of the agency 
  • Maintain campaign budget 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Advertising, Marketing or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 10 years of agency media buying experience 
  • Experience with Advantage is preferred 
  • Firm grasp of emerging media tools and technology 
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills 
  • Strong working knowledge of standard media resources and tools 
  • Proven problem-solving ability 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to work under pressure, strict deadlines and in a fast-paced environment
